Wicked Tulips Flower Farm, Johnston RI

The warm temperatures of Spring have finally arrived here in Southern New England, and it feels so fine!!!!Yesterday I had a wonderful time at the Wicked Tulips Flower Farm with Miss J and the kids. I would recommend a visit here if you are a flower lover (especially tulips). There are acres of beautiful tulip fields, and the best part is you can pick the tulips for a dollar each.

Baskets and buckets are provided to place your picked flowers into. There is a wrapping station where paper and tape are provided to wrap your flowers to transport home.

They also recommend you bring a bucket of water to place the flowers in during your car ride home which I did and it worked out well.

We arrived just after the opening time of ten o'clock. I would recommend you arrive early as well, because it does get crowded. Also, you should purchase your tickets in advance online as they sell out quickly, even during the week.

Love the color explosion!

Happy Spring!!!! (Finally)

Worlds End, Hingham MA

I went for a photo walk at Worlds End on Sunday morning. The weather was perfect. Worlds End is a nature park with miles of walking trails, rolling hills, open meadows, salt marshes, and rocky coastline on a peninsula in Hingham Harbor. There are lovely carriage roads and walking paths with beautiful views including the Boston skyline.

This is a beautiful place to visit in any season, but I enjoy seeing the early colors of Spring of the golden yellow and mint green tree buds.

There is also plenty of wildlife to be found here.

Spring Landscape, Kingston MA

I just love the colors of early Spring. There is a small area of wetlands off the side of the road near where my Dad lives. I happened to notice it when the leaves fell this Winter. (Did I ever mention here on the blog that we moved my Dad last Fall?) Anyway, I stopped here the other day with my camera.

Red Fox Day 1 2017

They're baaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are a regular follower of the blog, you probably remember the red fox den from last Spring that was in the woods in my backyard. I'm happy to report that they have returned again this year. I'm not sure how many kits there are because they haven't left the den area yet, as far as I know.

Here is Mama who I am pretty sure is the same Mama as last year from the markings on her coat.

I saw one of the kits for the first time today. The kit is extremely light in color.....almost a very pale golden color. The quality of the pictures I got of the kit are very poor, but I will post one anyway just to show you the kit with the Mama. Please excuse the poor quality of the image.

Do you see the kit to the left of the adult? I will post more kit photos in the coming weeks as they begin to leave the area of the den and explore my backyard.

The Pink Moon at Scituate Light

April's full moon is known as "The Pink Moon"because it marked the appearance of a pink flower called the Moss Pink, or Flox. It is likely a Native American tradition.

Last night I went to Scituate Light to photograph the Pink Moon rising. There was a low level cloud bank on the horizon, so the moon wasn't visible until it started to rise above the low clouds.

It was a beautiful Spring evening......rather windy with just a slight chill, but it sure felt good compared to the weather we've been having over the past few months.

Swan Nest Building, Jenny Pond Plymouth MA

It's that time of year again when Mother Nature tells all of her little critters that it's time for making babies. If you are a regular follower here on the blog, you may remember the fox and kits that lived in a den in my backyard last Spring. It was such an incredible experience to watch the kits grow and watch and photograph their behaviors. They left the den last Summer and I wasn't sure of they would be back this year or not. Last night we were woken by the sound of the Vixen's Scream. It was loud and right in our backyard. I'm crossing my fingers that this is a good sign that they will be returning to the same den. Stay tuned for details on this.......

This blog post however is not about the fox (I got sidetracked) but about the local swans who are either nesting, or are still in the process of nest building. Last weekend I photographed the swans at Jenny Pond in Plymouth, as they were in the nest building process.

And here is my Abington hometown swan sitting on her nest....

I'm looking forward to all of the Spring babies.
