Abington Butterfly Garden

I spent a few hours photographing at the Abington Butterfly Garden in Abington MA the other evening. Things are still a bit early at the garden, but I did find some things in bloom to photograph. The flowers on the Japanese Maple Tree are beginning to bloom:

I'll be visiting the garden more often as the Spring and Summer move long so stay tuned for more photos from this beautiful little garden in my hometown. A very special thanks to the Abington Garden Club who take such impeccable care of this treasured place.

Sunrise at Plymouth Rock

Pilgrim Memorial State Park is located along the shore of Plymouth Harbor, in Plymouth Massachusetts. Nobody knows for sure, but the rock featured here is reported to be the stepping stone that the inhabitants of the Mayflower stepped on when embarking from the Mayflower.

One of my friends informed me that on this particular morning, the sun would rise directly in the center of the Plymouth Rock Monument. We arrived before sunrise and I took a few shots from the street. I shot this one shortly after we arrived:

This next photo was taken about ten minutes later from the opposite direction:

Here comes the sun. This image was a combination of 8 different exposed images blended together in Lightroom. I used this method due to the high level of contrast in the scene to get the highlights and shadows correctly.

The history we have in this area is just one more reason why I love living in New England.

Springtime At The Boston Public Garden

Time is flying by these days. I've been slacking with my posting here on the blog, as I have some recent photos to share. Today I will share some photos taken last Sunday morning at the Boston Public Garden. We arrived on site around 4:55 am. Sunrise was at 5:21 am. It was a lovely morning!

The Swan boats in the Lagoon by the Lagoon Bridge:

I was happy that many of the tulip beds were still blooming. Here's the infamous George Washington Statue:

Morning Sprinklers at work after sunrise:

A few shots taken from the other side of the lagoon:

I was very happy to be able to do this photo trip. I walked in pretty well, but was really hurting and limping on the way out. It was worth the pain, and woke up the next morning feeling much better! I  have to "just keep swimming." :-)

Red Winged Blackbirds

I found a lot of Red Winged Blackbird action at Jenney Pond in Plymouth MA one evening last week. The late day light was phenomenal.

Another shot of the nesting Female. She is so sweet.

I hope you are enjoying the season of Spring in your necks of the woods,
