Happy Valentine's Day!

It doesn't seem possible, but one year ago today my mother was called home by God for Valentine's Day. My Mother was the most loving person I have ever known. God knew what he was doing. ;-)

So, this morning, on the one year anniversary of her death, I felt drawn to go to the beach for sunrise. My sister Kathleen came with me, and we were treated to a glorious sunrise and a spectacular morning.

This was the temperature from my car (please notice the minus sign)

Although it was below zero, it certainly didn't feel that cold. The air was still. There was no wind. The surf was almost calm, with just small waves rolling to the shore. It was peaceful, it was beautiful, and most of all it was therapeutic.

This image was taken at Peggotty Beach in Scituate MA, about ten minutes before sunrise.

Here is the sun rising from First Cliff

Scituate Harbor

Scituate Lighthouse

Minots Ledge Light

And Cohasset Harbor

It doesn't seem possible that in a few hours, this area is going to be hit with a blizzard with 60 mph winds and coastal flooding. As I type this, the snow has already started to fall.

I hope you are enjoying your Valentine's Day. For those of you reading this in Massachusetts, I hope you stay safe tonight and tomorrow. xxoo

  2. Carol, how glorious a morning you have captured. Bless your dear mom; she knew her daughters would carry forth and be caring, loving and talented people. You have the gift of making pictures of a universal quality; a feeling from the viewer that they are a part of that landscape. Hearts ~ ~

  3. Carol: what beautiful photos. You were drawn there for the simple reason to remember your loving mom. Just looking at the sunrise shots, I am confident she was right there with you with the rising sun. I noticed the bird in flight in one photo. That is always uplifting to me. Your photos speak volumes of your love for your mom. You must feel so blessed to have gone there with your sister and I can just tell how important this morning was for you. It is like coming full circle on the year anniversary. I wish you a Happy Valentine's Day. Be safe in the storm. Hugs and love to you my friend.

  5. What beautiful sunrise shots! Also love the lighthouse. What beautiful way to commentate your Moms passing, with a sunrise, a symbol of the promise of the resurrection, that we will all rise again and enjoy the company of our loved ones passed. Stay warm, all my best!:)

  6. Hello Carol,
This is a beautiful post, all the photos are gorgeous! I really love the one of the Scituate Lighthouse, I guess just because I like them. I've never been to Scituate, maybe it would be a nice weekend drive for us sometime! Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!
