What a fantastic weekend we had here in Southern New England. The temperatures today were up near 60 degrees.

Intimate Landscape Duxbury Beach

I recently taught a Landscape Composition class to members of my camera club. One of the things that I talked about was Grand Landscapes vs Intimate Landscapes. We all enjoy the awe inspiring grand scenes, but I also look around for more "intimate" scenes when I am out shooting. Here is an example of a broken beach fence that caught my eye the other day.

The Winter Tree Duxbury MA

I always enjoy and sometimes photograph the intricate patterns that naturally occur in a bare tree, after the leaves have dropped. There is this one tree in Duxbury MA that has a perfect shape, and the limbs make a wonderful pattern when it is bare. It is nicknamed "The Winter Tree."

I posted this image on my camera club Facebook page, and one of the members (who happens to be a nurse) commented......"It's like the perfect vascular system. Showing a nodule as well (the nest) in the upper right quadrant."

I love her description and have to say that I totally agree!

I chose black and white for this image, and gave it a bit more processing than I normally do, but I am pleased with the way it came out. I hope you like it too.

Duxbury Beach Sunrise

Went out to shoot the sunrise yesterday at Duxbury Beach. It was mostly cloudy but was able to get some color in the sky before it totally clouded over.

One of my Christmas gifts from Mr S is a beach permit for my vehicle which allows me to drive out to Duxbury Beach and beyond. It just arrived in the mail so a couple of friends accompanied me yesterday. Here's my friend Nancy Carey photographing the beauty,

The Promise of Spring

Today was a beautiful day here in SE MA. Temps were in the 40's, mostly sunny, and just beautiful. I love how the sun is setting later in the day. It means that the season of Spring is not far away. Seeing the pretty Spring flowers in the garden center is also a nice reminder that Spring will be on it's way.
