labor of love

Day 106/Year 2
I can't believe how much work has already been accomplished by Miss J and Steve in their new house. The shiny wallpaper that was "so loved" by my mother has almost all been completely stripped. I'll keep you updated on the new house projects here on the blog.............

A white sportcoat.............

Day 105/Year 2
A white sportcoat, and a pink carnation........that song keeps playing in my brain and I can't shut it off. It's been playing in my brain ever since I took a vase filled with carnations out on the deck this evening to make some photographs.
Please make this song go away................:-)
Oh, what the heck...........

"A white sport coat and a pink carnation
I'm all dressed up for the dance.
A white sport coat and a pink carnation,
I'm all alone in romance.

Once you told me long ago, to the prom with me
you'd go, now you've changed your mind,
it seems someone else will hold my dreams.
A white sport coat and a pink carnation,
I'm in a blue, blue mood."
:-0) I'm really not in a blue mood by the way!

It's Independence Day

Day 104/Year 2
Happy 4th of July! I hope you enjoyed your 3 day weekend honoring our country's freedom and independence.
I had a busy weekend.....worked all 3 days at 5:30 am and had the cookout at my house yesterday right after work. So, I went into the archives and pulled out a few of my favorite patriotic photographs for you. I hope you enjoy them.

A New England Tradition

Carol's view of New England?...........it doesn't get much more New England than this!

Candids/Street Photography

Day 102/Year 2
This image is different for me. Very different. There are some photographers who specialize in candids and street photography and they do it very well. I, on the other hand, am usually very uncomfortable taking this kind of shot. It is way out of my comfort zone.
But, I do like this image. I like how the dog and the owners looks resemble one another. I love how the dog is glaring at me as I was taking the shot, but the owner on the other hand was oblivious to me. I took just one shot.....a quick shot as I was not comfortable.......... yet I liked the subject and wanted to capture it.
I don't think I will make a habit of this type of photography, but I suppose every now and then, it's a good thing to challenge yourself and step outside of your comfort zone.

Hummingbird Nest

Day 101/Year 2
What a wonderful opportunity I had today!!! My friend and coworker Kathy F invited Diane and I to her house to photograph this hummingbird, who is nesting in a tree just feet away from her backyard deck.

It is amazing that Kathy spotted this nest in the first place. It's very small, and it blends in so well with the tree and surroundings. It actually looks like a knot in the tree.
We had a lovely visit on Kathy's deck and enjoyed her lovely woodsy backyard. The mother left the nest a few times during our visit, but she came back each time in a matter of minutes. She is beautiful, isn't she??? I'm looking forward to the babies being born!
