Happy Birthday Mom and Dad

Yesterday was the folks birthday. You may remember from previous years here on the blog that my parents share the same birthday. Same day. Same year.
It was a momentous evening last night as we celebrated their 91st birthday at my sister Nancy's house.
Here are the birthday girl and boy:

Here are Miss J and Steve.
This blog post has nothing to do with them.
But I am showing them anyways.
Because I am obnoxious that way.
And it's my blog and so what if I'm a little bit obsessed with my future grandchild.
Just a little obsessed is all.
It's perfectly normal, right?

Aren't they just adorable???? :-)

Okay, back to the birthday boy and girl now. Thank you for letting me swoon over my daughter and future grandchild. Now back to the business at hand which is these two adorable 91 year old people:

It takes a village to blow out all those candles.

Happy birthday Mom and Dad. I love you both and can not thank you enough for giving me so many blessings in my life!!!!!

Antiquing in Vermont

One of my favorite things to do while in Vermont is to visit the many antique shops in the area. I love the thrill of the hunt, and you never know what special finds you will stumble across. This past weekend, my son N and his fiance Melissa found a table and chairs for the dining room of their newly purchased house. The chairs are as sweet as can be, and their dining room is now going to look so beautiful!
I found a wonderful antique wooden bowl at the same shop as they found their table and chairs. I love my new bowl. Do you want to see it????? Here it is sitting on my dining room table. Isn't it sweet????

The bowl sits empty now, but in a few short weeks, you will see this bowl appear here again on the blog, but it will be filled with something (or should I say someone?) so precious that my heart will be swollen with love!!! *hint hint* Oh boy am I going to have fun!!!!!!

Okay, let's get back on track. :-) Here are a few images taken inside one of the antique shops we visited this weekend.

N was shocked to find "THE ORIGINAL" Declaration of Independence!!!! (yuk yuk yuk!)

Fun times for sure!!! :-)

Fall comes early up in the Northeast Kingdom

There was a definite Fall feel to the air this weekend up in Northern VT....... and I LOOOOVED it!!
The stressed tress have already started turning, and as you look up to the treetops on the hillsides, there are a few reds, oranges and yellows to see, as well as a dulling of the green leaves, which is a sign that the chlorophyll is shutting down.

The Crab Apples are ripened and falling from the trees as well.

But summer is still here and summer's bounty can still be found:

As far as the foliage season goes, I'd say it is looking to be shaping up for another stellar year. I'm having a good feeling about this. I think as long as we don't get any unwelcomed weather events in September, that it's going to be another beautiful foliage season. I'm also thinking that the end of September should be the peak time for the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.
So Mother Nature.......bring it on!!!!!

Happy Birthday Jay!!!!

Twenty one years old?????? How did he get to be 21 years old????? I don't get how fast the time goes by. What ever happened to that three year old little boy full of energy.....full of energy times 1000!! :-)
This is one of my favorite pictures of Jay, taken in 2009. We were at Crystal Lake in Barton VT. Jay was sitting on the top of a picnic table and I was sitting on the bench. The wind was blowing, and I had my camera ready for the shot. I called his name and he looked at me and this was the result:

Just love his adorable smirk and the wind-blown hair! These days his hair is shorter and neater, but he still has that adorable smirk that melts my heart!!!!
We are so proud of him!!!!!
Happy happy 21st birthday Jay!!!!!!!!

More Buttonwood Farm Sunflowers, Griswald CT

Thought I'd share a few more images from my visit to Buttonwood Farm the other day.
This first image had too much negative space on the right hand side, so I decided to add an inspirational quote to fill in the space.

The clothing worn by this little girl is reminiscent of days gone by....

Moo! :-)

Robyn and Rich/Jones River Trading Wedding

When my good friend Nancy Carey asked me to be the second shooter for a wedding she was doing, I didn't hesitate to say YES! I especially wanted to shoot this wedding because the "theme" was John Deere. A John Deere wedding is right up my alley so I was all for it!!
While Nancy was shooting pre-wedding pictures of the bride and girls, I had the pleasure of shooting the decor, as well as the Groom and his Best Man, who also happens to be his Dad. They were great and I had so much fun. Here are a few sneak peek images to show.

A personalized John Deere mailbox for the wedding cards:

John Deere green and yellow were the colors of the day:

I LOVED all of the little details, such as the birch wood seating card holders:

Another centerpiece with a hint of the wedding cake in the background:

The Best Man getting his boutonniere pinned on as Rich looks off in the distance:

Love this one:

And this one too:

Handsome Rich minutes before he saw his beautiful Bride:

These are just a sneak peek. I have more (1000 but who's counting?) images to go through.
It was a pleasure to shoot alongside the talented Nancy Carey. She rocked this wedding and it was a privilege to work with her.
I'll post another blog with more images on another day. Just wait until you see Rich's beautiful bride Robyn as well as all of the John Deere props! :-)

Buttonwood Farms Sunflowers and Cows

This was a lot of fun! I went to Buttonwood Fams in Griswold CT yesterday to photograph the "Running of the Cows". Each year, the cows are released into one of the sunflower fields......they are very excited and some just can't contain themselves....they literally dance up to the sunflowers:

These girls came barreling out of the sunflowers, kicking up the dirt as they ran!

Munch.....Munch.....Munch....Yumm!!!!

The Field of Dreams....

Sometimes the fresh grass is just as yummy as the sunflowers....

And the littlest ones got all tuckered out from the excitement....

Probably my favorite....

Well, my favorite image of the day. My other favorite thing was the ice cream.......Oh my goodness.....the ice cream.......worth the hour and a half drive just for the ice cream. :-)
