Wheeler Pond Barton VT

Early colors were found along Wheeler Pond in Barton this past weekend. I'm so looking forward to visiting this beautiful spot next week, when the foliage hopefully will be peak.

Franconia Notch NH

I was pretty surprised to see that Franconia Notch was still mostly green when I was up there this weekend. Hopefully the cold temps from the past couple of nights will help the Fall colors to come along. Here is just a little sample of some color that I saw going through the Notch.

Orne Covered Bridge Coventry VT

Had a wonderful weekend up in the NEK of Vermont. The foliage is a little late this year, but it is coming along nicely in some parts of the NEK.

I visited the Orne Covered Bridge in Coventry on Saturday. It's a pretty covered bridge with a red barn positioned across from it.......makes a lovely composition for photography.

Patriots go 3 and 0 without Tom Brady

It's wonderful to be a New England Patriots Fan. That's all I have to say today. This ten day old linebacker is lucky to have been born in Patriots Nation.

Life is better when you are with your Grandchildren. I'll be seeing Henry later on today as well. I'm off to go to Dads right now. I'm looking forward to my Henry Fix on the way home. :-) It was wonderful to see these two cuties last night.

Ricker Pond VT

Happy First Day of Fall!!!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Today is a new day, and I am feeling a little better. Sorry for wigging out yesterday. Sometimes putting your feelings into writing helps you to sort them out I think.

This is an image I made two years ago at Ricker Pond in VT. I'm so looking forward to seeing the Fall colors this year and to get away from the realities of everyday life for a while.

My Dog Rudy

I've got nothing. I haven't had time to pick up the camera for a few weeks (except for a few pics of the new baby in the hospital). I feel very disonnected and out of sorts. I've been very busy and often times overwhelmed dealing with issues with my Dad. Sometimes life isn't easy and this is one of those times for me. This too shall pass, but for now I'm a bit of an emotional mess. I know that things will settle down soon and I just have to relax and go with the flow. Deep breaths.......

When life gets you down, there's nothing like the love of your dog to keep you grounded. Here is my Rudy. Even though he threw up all over the couch just as I was walking out the door this morning to go to my Dad's (of course he did, right????) he still makes me smile and gives me the unconditional love that we all need.

Thanks for listening to me. I'm usually not a Debbie Downer.....especially on my blog. But I wear my heart on my sleeve......err.......on my keyboard too I guess. :-)

This Herring Gull was perched on a rock watching the waves come in.

Scituate Light Tropical Storm Hermine

Another image from yesterday. This was taken across from the Scituate Lighthouse. There were many people gathered around the lighthouse to view the rough seas and waves.

Tropical Storm Hermine and Minot'sLight, Scituate MA

As Tropical Storm Hermine churns off the coast of Southern New England, some high surf and brisk winds were blowing into the beaches in the area.

These two boys were being very careless and should never have been this close to the breaking waves.

Vermont Fall Photography Guide For Photographers

Well hello there Labor Day Weekend! May I ask how did you get here so quickly? For the life of me I can't imagine where this Summer has gone. It seems like it went by in the blink of an eye.

We are heading into my favorite time of the year here in New England, and I am getting very excited and looking forward to Mother Nature's most brilliant show of the year. In my opinion, there is nothing more breathtaking than the beauty of Autumn in New England.....and if you are a regular follower of this blog, you already know this fact.

To my fellow photographers reading this blog post, I would like to remind you that my good friend and fellow photographer Andy Richards has published an e-book on photographing Fall Scenes in Vermont. The book is titled Photographing Vermont's Fall Foliage and it is available to purchase and download from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Apple I Tunes, and Kobo, This book is a fantastic reference and guide to find places to photograph, and the best time of day to be there. I encourage you to purchase this book as you are making your Fall Photography plans for this year.

Here is a link to a post about Andy's ebook, as well as another ebook he has written.

https://lightcentric.wordpress.com/photo-destination-pdfs/

In case you missed this part in the link, I will share with you one paragraph thatAndy has written that in particular I would like for you to see:

"The Vermont eBook is updated as of my trip in October 2010.  I recently returned from a 4-day visit to Vermont and not only learned some new locations, but also gained some “intel” on some of the existing locations.  I am pleased to announce here, that my good friend, photographer, and part-time Vermont resident, Carol Smith, will be co-writing the Second Edition of this book, hopefully to be published in time for the 2017 foliage season!"

I am very excited about this project and will be spending a solid week in Vermont this Fall either revisiting some of the scenes that I have photographed, or visiting new locations that I have discovered, in preparation for the release of this book in the Summer of 2017.

I'll end this blog post with one of my favorite Fall scenes that I have shot in VT. This is the Bragg Hill Farm in Waitsfield VT.
