Truly Vermont Scene

Day 156/365

Had a very successful weekend of photography up in The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. The foliage was only about 20-25% changed, with a few isolated pockets of perhaps 30% change. But we still managed to come home with some beautiful VT images. It's so beautiful up there, that no matter what the conditions, you can't go wrong.
This is possibly my favorite image from the weekend. It is a true Vermont scene........including a sugar house, morning fog over a pond, and hillsides just beginning to change into their Fall colors.

I am leaving tomorrow to head back up to VT for five days. I will post as long as I have wi-fi so hope to post at least a few days while I am up there.
Mother Nature sure is testing us this Fall with the delayed foliage colors and now we have flooding rain predicted with a tropical storm heading our way. Will have to make the best of it though!

Happy Autumn 2015

Days 154 and 155 of 365

I forgot to post yesterday.........

Yes, it's finally here!! I've been busy getting ready for my Fall photography trips. I will be leaving at 4:30 tomorrow morning. Destination: The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Word is the foliage is at least a week behind, I'm looking at this as a good thing. It will challenge me to think outside of the box and get creative. A very good exercise!
This is from two weeks ago. The view above May Pond in Barton. I'm so excited that I will be in my happy place again in just another day.

I won't be posting for a few days. Stay tuned for my return.

It certainly FEELS like Fall here in New England. But, it doesn't quite LOOK like Fall yet. A lovely day for a walk in the woods.

Bean Pond Barton VT Northeast Kingdom Photography

Day 152/365

A week ago today I was here, and a week from today I will be here again. The color of the foliage hasn't changed since I was there last weekend. The unseasonably warm temperatures that we are experiencing in New England have put the brakes on to any emerging color. The good news is that the weather pattern is changing (finally). Tonights lows in Barton are predicted to be 39 degrees. This weeks is forecast for sunny dry days in the 60's and cool nights in the 40's. Color SHOULD be better next weekend when I am up there. Probably won't be peak like it typically is at the end of September, but that's ok. I will take whatever Mother Nature decides to give us.

I'll take a comparison shot a week from today and share it with you.

Quincy Artsfest

Day 151/365

Today's blog is a bit of self promotion, if I may! A photo I entered into the Quincy Artsfest won "Best of Quincy Photography" I'm pretty excited about it.

And more good news. It sold at the show!

This helps because I just bought myself a new wide angle lens that has been shipped and due to arrive tomorrow!

Windswept Farm Barton VT

Day 150/365

This Gothic Barn sits high up on a hill at the end of May Pond Road.

These Gothic roof barns are really pretty cool, and there aren't too many of them around here in New England.

The Morning Catch, Scituate MA

Day 149/365

We are experiencing some pretty amazing late Summer weather here in Southern New England. I think Mother Nature is extending Summer to make up for the horrendous Winter that she handed us.

Here is a gull with it's morning catch!

Time for breakfast!

Two beautiful Little Ones!

Dy 146/365

Hello! I had such a busy action packed weekend.....started with a wedding Friday night......went to VT Saturday morning....and was home in time for Ryleigh's second birthday party last night. Whew! Here is an adorable fawn that we saw early Sunday morning up in Barton VT.

So adorable and still has it's spots. I had to look it up, and learned that the spots go away by the end of October.

Ryleigh hasn't been seen on the blog for a while, so I will sneak a birthday party picture here as well.

Fall leaf

Day 145/365

I just finished reading a foliage forecast written by Jim Salge, one of my favorite Meterorolgist and Photographers. His reports are always honest and accurate. Things are looking good for this years foliage season here in New England.

http://www.yankeemagazine.com/new-england-foliage/new-england-peak-fall-foliage-outlook-updated#_

As I stepped out of my car at my Dad's place the other day, this was sitting on the ground. I took it as a sign. :-)

Two weeks from today I will be up in the NEK of VT doing what I love to do the most, and I can't wait to see what Mother Nature has in store for us this year.

Hint of Fall

Day 144/365
Even though we are in the middle of a heatwave here in Southern New England, there are still some subtle reminders that Fall is on it's way.

Scituate Light Sunrise

Day 143/365

Happy Labor Day to all of you. I hope you enjoyed your Summer as much as I did. This is always a bittersweet time of the year. As much as I hate to see Summer drawing near, I am also very excited about the upcoming season of Fall.......my most favorite time of the year, as you probably already know if you are a regular follower of this blog.

Craftsbury Pavilion Wedding

DAY 141/365

I should have titled this post "A flatlander Shoots A Country Wedding", but the search engines wouldn't have brought any traffic here, so I decided upon a more appropriate title.
I'm not a professional wedding photographer. I'm just a girl with a camera who likes to take pictures. Sure I have shot a few weddings, but landscapes and nature are my forte......but when Josie called me several months ago and asked me to shoot her wedding, I could not say yes fast enough!

This was such an amazing wedding in every way. These folks know how to do it right.  It was not extravagant and there was nothing artificial about this beautiful celebration. These people are true to who they are and they have their priorities in the right place. This was a day about family. A day about love. A day about simple pleasures and country living.

I started off shooting Josie and the girls at her Mom and Dads house in Barton VT. Can I just say that I love this family????? We have become good friends with them over the years since we bought our vacation home in Vermont. Here's Josie getting ready:

The "Girls"

No fancy high healed shoes for these country girls!

How beautiful is Josie????

Josie's Mom Terri helping with her dress

The flower girl was camera shy, but I was able to sneak a picture. Look at the camo dress. I can't take it!!!!!!

The boys had no problem with me and my camera. Look at the little camo vests. So adorable.

Handsome Logan getting all choked up watching his bride walk down the aisle. So sweet!

Josie's dad Steve in a tender moment with Logan.

What a gorgeous venue....and the guest were seated on hay bales. Love it!!!!

Josie with her three besties. They are all so beautiful.

Logan with his guys.

Josie's requested pose

My beautiful friend

Love her eyes

The first dance

Josie and her Dad Steve have a very close relationship. There wasn't a dry eye in the house during this dance.......and the photographer could barely focus with all of my tears. A VERY sweet moment

I always knew I liked Logan, but any boy who cries while dancing with his Mom is a ok in my book. What a great kid he is!

Josie and her Mom Terri. I love these two beautiful women!

Quick dress change for Josie. This was taken as the sun was setting in the hills behind them

Love.......

Thank you for letting me share this day with you. I wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness. Don't ever change. You are perfect just the way you are!

Morning Glory

Day 140/365

I went out shooting this morning, but haven't downloaded the pictures yet. I have a project I am working on, and can't allow myself to work on any other pictures until it's done. So in the meantime, here is another picture from May Pond in VT that I took a few weeks ago.
