Vermont Sugar Bush In The Fall

You may ask......what is a sugar bush? A sugar bush is an area of woods where maple trees are the predominate trees that grow. These maple trees are tapped in the Spring for their maple sap, which through a thorough process, is then transformed into delicious maple syrup.
And now you know......

This is a sugar bush that I photographed on a beautiful Fall morning.

Early Morning Light

On the final morning of my VT Fall trip, my first stop was to photograph the beautiful sunrise clouds over Crystal Lake, which you saw in a previous blog post. After that stop, I drove down Rte 5 and came across a field perched on a hill where there were a few horses grazing. I immediately pulled over, as I loved how the light was hitting the horses. I had to shoot up the hill to photograph the horses, and two of them quickly moved out of my sight. This left one horse who was curious (thankfully) and he stopped for a moment to look at me and to see what I was doing. I just love the way the early morning light was side lighting him.

There's nothing better than that beautiful low early morning light, in my opinion. It's so worth it to get up early to catch!

United Methodist Church West Burke VT

A classic New England scene is a white steepled church surrounded by peak Fall colors. I love these classic scenes, and this is one of them that I shot in West Burke VT. This was taken on a beautiful Fall morning, about one hour after sunrise.

Halloween

This started as an image that I took of a spider web hanging off the side of a tree. The rest of this picture is just black magic............:-)

I hope you enjoy your day and evening. I have to go out and buy the candy for our trick or treaters. Have to wait to the last minute because for some reason whenever I buy it in advance it seems to disappear in this house. Hmmmm....

Community Church, Montgomery Center VT

The pumpkins on the stairway, and the Fall wreath on the doorway caught my eye at the Community Church in Montgomery Center VT. I also really liked the antique lights and the old worn look of the building.

Sabbaday Falls NH

Another waterfall along the Kancamagus Highway in NH that I recently visited is Sabbaday Falls. This is a beautiful waterfall that is easily accessible on a short trail off the main highway. The trail itself is beautiful, as it follows along the river. Again, I was there past peak, so there was a lot of leaf drop on the trail which I personally love to see and hear the "swishing" of the footsteps through the leaves along the path. Also, the musky earthy smell of walking through the woods in the Fall is one of my favorite scents in the world.

As previously mentioned on another blog post, the water level was really low. Here is a shot I took of the river as I was walking along the trail.

As I sit in my living room typing this blog post, I can smell the earthy pine scent of the woods, and I can hear the roar of the Falls. Such nice memories.
