Plymouth County Farm/Petting Zoo

One day last week I had a Nana and Ryleigh day. Ryleigh could choose anyplace to go that day.......her choice?......"I want to go to a farm". This kid loves farms and farm animals.....she's a little clone of her Nana and I love it!

It was my first time visiting the Plymouth County Farm. Unfortunately, most of the animals were not there yet. I was told by one of the workers that it was still too cold for them, and more animals would be arriving in a week or two, as the temperatures warmed up. We did get to see some goats and chickens.

This goat was so content to scratch an itch.....

She just loves to see the farm animals.....

This image was processed using Topaz Texture Effects.....

A fun day and will return this Summer for sure.

Weymouth Herring Run

Congratulations to all of the runners who ran the Boston Marathon today!! There is another marathon going on right now,,,,,a marathon of nature. The herring are running!!!! Those of you who are regular visitors to this blog will recall that each Spring tens of thousands of herring make their way from the Carolina coastline back up to Whitman's Pond in Weymouth.....the place of their birth, to spawn. It is one of natures marvels, and I am always excited to witness this each Spring.

Further up the run the Cormorants are in place waiting to catch a meal.

And the Black Crowned Night Herons have returned to town for the same reason.

Coyote At Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary

Yesterday was a fun day.......I went to photograph at The Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary in Marshfield MA with some camera club friends. It was a beautiful, yet windy and chilly morning. We were lucky enough to see one of the coyotes as we made our way through the miles of trails.

He was more afraid of us than we were of him.....although we sounded like the paparazzi with all of our shutters clicking away as he crossed our path. It was pretty exciting to see.

More photos from this photo walk coming over the next few days here on the blog.

Osprey at Estuary in East Weymouth MA

Had a fun day with Ryleigh yesterday. After I took her home, I went down to the Estuary in East Weymouth to see if there was any action. I ran into the Game Warden there and we were discussing his thoughts on this years Herring Run. As we were chatting, the male Osprey flew off the nesting platform and flew right overhead. Right place. Right time.

Starfish

I like to sometimes add inspirational quotes to my images. Sometimes when I am shooting, I compose an image with that in mind, as was the case this past weekend. Here are two examples of images which I composed in order to leave space to add the text in a pleasing area of the photo. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.

This next one I dedicated to my good friend David, who is battling brain cancer. He so wanted to join us on this sunrise shoot, but brain surgery got in the way. There's always something, right?????

I'm happy to report that David is beginning to feel better after surgery. He still has quite the battle ahead of him, but he has lots of love and support behind him and faith that he will win this battle. You will be hearing more about David here on the blog within the next few weeks.

The Clash Of The Seasons

Haven't left the house for five days. Feeling somewhat better but not great. Anyways, went out in the backyard with the point and shoot today to photograph the soggy, cold, drooping snow covered Forsythia.
