Coffin Pond Sugar Hill NH

Day 161/365

Happy Halloween!!!!!! For today's photo, I thought it would be appropriate to share an image I took a few weeks ago at COFFIN Pond in NH. (Halloween.....coffin.....get it???)
It was a rainy dreary day, but the foliage was at it's peak and it was still beautiful, despite the weather.

I hope you are enjoying your Halloween weekend.

Milky Way at Windswept Farm Barton VT

I'd like to share with you a few night images that I recently took at Windswept Farm in Barton VT. I spent quite a bit of time photographing at this location over the past several weeks. The owner Adam, is a wonderful man, and he has given me permission to photograph on his property whenever I want. I stopped by in the afternoon before I did the night shoot. I think he is getting used to seeing me and my camera. Anyway, I wanted to let him know I would be out shooting there at night so he wouldn't think some crazies with a flashlight were prowling around.
Here's my favorite night image I have taken so far.

How wonderful that the Milky Way was positioned just above the barn! After photographing this view, I decided to take some night shots of the stars over the sugar house. How surprised I was to see that the tail end of The Milky Way was visible over the sugar house. I also caught a shooting star in this image. I saw many shooting stars that evening, and it was a very special time.

Both the barn and the sugarhouse were light painted with the flashlight of my friend's cell phone. We had a wonderful evening!

Lord Creek Covered Bridge

Day 165/365
One of the lesser known covered bridges in VT is The Lord Creek Covered Bridge located in Irasburg. It leads to a farm field.
The sun was poking through a small hole in the roof during my visit here a few weeks ago, and I was able to make a starburst with the sun beams.

A view of the farm through the bridge.

Martin's Pond Peacham VT

Day 164/365

I visited Martins Pond on a mostly cloudy morning last week. The colors on the hillsides surrounding the pond were at peak, and it was really beautiful. I recently bought a new wide angle lens....the Tamron 11-16 f2.8, and I used it on several occasions during my recent VT foliage trips. I am really happy with the results I have gotten with this lens.

Strafford Meetinghouse. Strafford VT

Day 163/365

The little town of Strafford VT is one of those quaint VT villages that are like a step back in time. I photographed here a few years ago, but it was a rainy day. I went back here last week on a beautiful Autumn day.

Irasburg Common VT

Day 161/365

I've photographed the common in Irasburg VT on a few occasions, but there was something about the images that I did not like. Either the lighting was not right, or the foliage was not right, or I just wasn't feeling it. But the other morning I stopped off to take a look and decided the light was just right to make a picture that I would be happy with. There were clouds in the sky behind the church steeple, and as the sun was coming out in the East, it was lighting up the clouds nicely as well as the trees that flank each side of the church.

I'm glad I finally got the images that I have been after.

Day 159/365

My first time shooting the night sky and I LOVED it. In fact, I am heading back u to VT tomorrow and will be doing some more Milky Way photography, as well as more foliage photography. So I will not be posting for a few days.

Here is The Milky Way over Lake Willoughby. You can see some thin clouds streaming across the sky as well.

Cloudland Road Woodstock VT

Day 158/365
I have not had much time at all to process my images from last weeks trip to VT. I just picked a few images that I took on a cloudy afternoon on Cloudland Rd. in Woodstock. This road is an iconic place for photographers to capture the beauty of Vermont, with the highlight of the road being The Sleepy Hollow Farm. I have not had time to process the farm images but they will be shown here on another day. These are just a few shots I made along this beautiful road. The foliage is late this year, but there was a little color to be found.

You can see my friend Al photographing here further down the road.

I had a fantastic time and have many more images to share with you here on the blog.

Owls Head Groton State Forest VT

Day 157/365

I hiked up to the top of Owls Head with some friends the other day. You drive 3/4's of the way up where there is a small parking area. From here it is a short but somewhat steep hike up to the top. Some of Vermont's finest views seen from up here. Below is Kettle Pond. Camel's Hump is in the distance.
