The pumpkins have arrived

Day 139/365

I was down one of the local farm stands yesterday, and the local pumpkins are in. This was such a quick summer. Tomorrow is Sept 1st and in 25 days I will be shooting the foliage up in Northeast VT.

Working The Fields

Day 138/365

This was an unexpected sight this morning. After having breakfast with my Father In Law, we were driving down Thompson St. in Middleboro MA. This is a favorite place of mine, because there is so much farm land. But I soon questioned if I was in MA or did I morph to Costa Rica????

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Kayaks at Gunrock Beach

Day 137/365

Kayaks always make for an interesting image (in my opinion) and when I saw these lined up the other evening, I knew I wanted to photograph them.

Day 136/365

It was a beautiful sunset last night at Gunrock Beach in Hull MA. The days are getting shorter and these beautiful summer nights will be a thing of the past in another week or two,

Who doesn't like an evening stroll on the beach?

Beach Rose?

Day 135/365

Not sure what type of flower this is, but I think it might be a variety of a Beach Rose?

Happy Monday. I hope you enjoyed your weekend.

May Pond Morning, Barton VT

Day 133/365

Continuing on with more shots from May Pond. This is an early morning view looking across the pond. It is so peaceful and serene. I just love it here. It's good for the soul.

Mallard Duck at May Pond Barton

Day 132/365

I guess I had a good morning of shooting at May Pond on Sunday. Today's images were also taken that morning, as were the previous two blog posts.

There is a little inlet (I guess that is the proper term for it) on the left hand side of the pond at the access area. The morning fog was burning off and the sun had just risen when I shot these photos of a female Mallard in that little inlet area. The light was magical.

This image is my favorite of the two. I really like this one and hope you do too.

It's all about the light.

Dewey Spider Web

Day 131/365

Took this image at May Pond in Barton. I love how the colors in the background mimic the colors of Fall from the warm early morning sunlight.

May Pond Barton

Day 130/365

I've said it here before on the blog but I will repeat myself.....May Pond is my little piece of Heaven on Earth. It's a very secluded pond tucked high up on a hillside on Barton VT.

We were blessed with morning fog on Sunday morning and I knew just where I wanted to go with my camera.

My Sister's Garden

Day 126/365

We had a beautiful day here in SE MA. I hope you had a nice day wherever you are as well. I took my Dad down to my sister's house, and he had a fantastic day sitting on her beautiful porch. I had a good day as well. Here's my sister tending to her garden....

You know those little orange tomatoes that I buy at the farm stand? You know, the ones I am addicted to? Well, look at what she has growing! Boy I love my sister. Did I ever tell you how much I love my sister? She's the best!!!! *wink*

Natures Candy......

Nature's Bounty....

I also came home with fresh green beans, fresh wax beans, and a fresh cucumber. Oh, and two books and a Fall scented Yankee Candle she bought for me last week. Yes, I really DO love my sister. Thanks Nancy!!!!!!

GBH Take Off

Day 125/365

Was down to my own outdoor studio (the cemetry).....one of my favorite places to shoot......and found this Great Blue Heron who immediately began to fly away as soon as I approached. My shutter speed was not fast enough to catch his wing movement, but I was happy to get the eye sharp, which is the most important thing to have sharp in an image like this. I also personally like the blurred wings, as I think it shows motion.

The Silver Spears Farewell to Quincy's "The Beachcomber"

Day 124/365

The Beachcomber club on Quincy Shore Drive is scheduled to be closing it's doors in a few weeks. This business opened in 1959 and has featured some pretty famous musicians and singers in it's day......including Louis Armstrong, Loretta Lynn, Linda Ronstadt, Rosemary Clooney, Duke Ellington, Tiny Tim, Count Basie, and Bobby Darin.

The most recent highlighter to play here are The Dropkick Murphys.

The few times that I have visited here were to see my friend Tim O'Leary's band called The Silver Spears play.

Tim and a friend began the band when he was just a young kid, and they have been a band of four members for forty years!

We had such a great time. The Beachcomber has become a true "dive". but it certainly has it's own unique character, shall we say, and it will be missed!

SSH Softball Champions

Day 121/365

We are the champions!!! Okay, well not me personally.....but the Nutrition and Food Services Dept of the hospital has won the Softball Championship......they played their final playoff game last night. The trophy was proudly displayed at work today and I'm very proud of my "team" members and happy for their win. Here are a few of them along with the trophy. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this winning season!

Do you see me in there????? And, why do my nails look so orange???? And, why do I have three hands??

Just a few cell phoneography photos today.

Queen Anne's Lace Bud

Day 120/365

I never knew that there was a pink variety of Queen Anne's Lace. I need to get out more.......I wonder what other things are around me that I am not aware of! *wink* But seriously, I had to look it up and discovered that the buds can be pink and usually change to white, but not all of the time. Sometimes they can stay a light pink color.

And now I know!

Approaching Storm

Day 119/365

Got rocked out of bed at 6:40 this morning by a severe thunderstorm. A telephone pole up the street from me was hit by lightning. Scary stuff. But then the sky cleared and we had a beautiful day......up until the past hour when we dodged a big bullet here in my town. A severe thunderstorm passed by just North of us. But for a short time the sky started looking very ominous and scary. so I took a quick picture with my cell phone out my front door. You can see those black clouds approaching.

All is well now!

Sunflower Season

Day 118/365

One of my favorite things to do during the month of August in New England is to visit the local farm stands. The produce is always freshly picked and delicious. I usually visit the farm stands at least twice a week during this month. Besides the delicious produce, I LOVE to buy the sunflowers that grow at the local farms. I bought myself some yesterday and they are so beautiful.

Herring Gull

Day 117/365

Just a simple image of a Herring Gull. What I like about this image is the warm light as the sun was setting......his little foot in the walking position, the small wave breaking in the background, and the way the wind is blowing his feathers on his head.. Also, get down low. This image would not be the same if I shot this while standing up. Simple everyday subjects can sometimes be overlooked, but they still can make some nice images. I hope you agree

Sunset From Hull Gut

Day 116/365

Beautiful sunset taken from Hull Gut the other evening. Here is the progression of the sunset. When we arrived the sun was low in the sky and just coming out from under the cover of a cloud. I loved seeing the rays coming out from the top of the cloud.

Sun getting a little lower in the sky as this sailboat passed by.

And lower again as this Coast Guard boat came along.

And finally the sun setting over Boston. Love how the colors changed to a pink and purple hue.
