Country Roads Take Me Home To The Place I Belong

34/365
I'd like to do a little series on Vermont country roads for today's photos. This photo was taken this morning and I really like the "road" in the field that I'm sure the farmer uses with his tractor and truck as he's working the field. That's Burke Mountain in the background which is located in East Burke Vermont. Note the little bits of snow that still remain on the ski trails. It was 72 degrees outside when I shot this photo!
This was taken along one of my very favorite country roads.........called Darling Hill Road which runs from East Burke into Lyndonville VT. It's a beautiful dirt road with sweeping views to the west of the Willoughby Gap and surrounding mountains, and sweeping views to the East of Burke Mountain. This section here is lined with maple trees and I like the red barn tucked in on the righthand side of the shot.

To go along with the country road theme, I wanted to add these two photos that I took yesterday. Mr S knows that I am always looking for different photo ops, and he stumbled upon this scene while out snowmobiling last winter and he wanted to show it to me. He brought me to a jackpot! I LOVE this quirky unusual series of tunnels along this dirt road! I LOVE how you can see the second tunnel through the first one!
Aaaaaaahhhhhhh........there's nothing better than a drive through Vermont with the camera in hand! I'm looking forward to my next trip back up there at the end of the month. I hope you enjoyed the country roads as much as I did!

  2. As long as we are on blog title songs, how about....

"I'm in a.... Vermont State of Mind"

    :)

I agree with milkayphoto. Your shot of Darling Hill Road, the canopies of the trees over the dirt road and the red barn tucked in the corner - make this photo MAGAZINE WORTHY. Just outstanding!

Are we due for the entry in our favorite magazine's contest soon????!!!!!

  3. Hi Tracy,
I'm glad to see you like the barn shot. Thank you! Yes, Mr S knew that I was very happy and very thankful to be shown the tunnels. I am thinking the second shot will be gorgeous in the Fall if those trees change color. Will have to make a point to go back here in the Fall.
